Events make perfect sense for Bark & Co.

 

The company – which is best known for BarkBox, its subscription-based goodie box for dogs – has only one mission: to create products and services that “make dogs happy.”

What better way to spread their message than to provide incredible live experiences tailored exclusively for dog-lovers and their pups?

From its annual BarkFest event in Brooklyn, to its Fashion Week-themed “Pup-Up Pawty” in Manhattan, to its BarkHike events in upstate New York, Bark & Co. is an experiential marketing machine.

 

In just three years, events have helped Bark & Co. generate incredible content and expose new and loyal customers to its growing list of new products and services, like BarkCam (its mobile photo-sharing app dubbed “the Instagram for dogs”), and BarkPost (its robust content site made for dog owners).

Today, Bark & Co.’s dog-loving community has ballooned to more than

4 million.

What did VFA struggle with?

In 2014, Bark & Co. came to Splash with a simple challenge:

The goal was to significantly boost their subscriber base, continue to engage and expose new and loyal fans to its growing roster of products & services, and attract new brand partners.

The Splash solution

The Enterprise package was the perfect solution. Splash and Bark & Co. immediately teamed up on a three-pronged approach:

01 | An events calendar to keep fans “Pupdated”

Splash’s proprietary event hub technology allows Bark & Co. to feature all past and upcoming events in one place. The completely white-labeled events site (barklive.com) encourages visitors to check out events in their area, and opt-in to receive "Pupdates” when a new event is added to the calendar.

02 | A library of custom event themes to maintain brand consistency

As Bark & Co. expanded across the country, it became increasingly difficult for the marketing team to ensure event marketing materials – like the event site & the email invite – was perfectly on-brand.

 

That’s where Splash’s Designer Pro tool came in. Working with the Bark & Co. design team, Splash created a robust library of custom event page & email themes that employees can use to create perfectly-branded event pages & email invites in minutes.

03 | A completely integrated events CRM system

Every time someone interacts with a BarkBox event – like opening an email invite or submitting an RSVP – that data is logged into the Splash CRM. As a result, Bark & Co. is able to access a wealth of valuable event-related datapoints – like how many events a person has attended in the past 6 months, or how influential they are on social.


It’s a layer of data that helps Bark & Co. better target and reward its most valuable event attendees.

A Splash + Salesforce Integration

A Salesforce integration

VFA has long used Salesforce to track new leads and maintain contact with their growing alumni and

donor list.

 

The problem? After every single event, they had to spend hours inputting valuable data into Salesforce. As the organization grew, the process became a logistical nightmare.

 

In July 2015, Splash integrated Salesforce into its platform, which changed the game for VFA.


Now, when guests attend or RSVP to a VFA event, Splash automatically takes one of two actions within Salesforce: (1) Updates the individual’s existing record and associate him or her with that particular event; or (2) creates an entirely new Lead or Contact.


The complete automation allows VFA to focus on what really matters: Building and maintaining relationships with donors, recruits and hiring partners.

Since moving its events program over to Splash, Bark & Co. has significantly expanded its subscriber-base and has unprecedented visibility into exactly how well their events perform. The data alone has helped the marketing team expand efficiently scale its events program across the country.
