There may be one small detail you’re overlooking amidst the hype being generated about AI. (Don’t worry, that’s why we’re here!)

The fact is: while AI is quite literally “artificial,” events are not. Events are truly the other side of the AI coin. Events are the “Barbie” to AI’s “Oppenheimer.” The “yin” to its “yang.” Ok, ok. You get the idea.

Events produce real, human-to-human connections. Suddenly, “Artificial Intelligence” becomes “Authentically Interconnected.” And trust us, Zero prompts can create real connections and personalized content the way events can!

AI is undoubtedly a game changer, but the need to continue amplifying the power of events will always persist: events are the best way to connect with buyers and customers and create lasting connections.

Events Create Real, Human Connections

Help 🤗

While you may rehearse a script for a presentation, no AI-generated prompts will help you network, answer questions, or connect with attendees at an in-person event.

Your customers are savvy. They know that when they…

There may not be a personal connection behind that content. But events are inherently personal. And, as we all know, buyers frequently aren’t making purchasing decisions based on features or freebies; they’re basing them on relationships. 🧑‍🤝‍🧑

Your customers want to feel an authentic connection with your company. In practice, that may look like extra networking time in your conference agenda or an open Q&A during your next webinar, where you invite customers to join the presenters on-screen for a discussion.

These additional connections with your customers will benefit your relationships and help create user-generated content that can fuel your marketing pipeline.

A quick commercial break for some important AI key words

Natural language processing:

helps computers understand how humans write and speak.

Deep learning:

The method inspired by the human brain that teaches computers to process data.

Reinforcement learning:

The machine-learning-powered science of decision making.

The phenomenon known as natural language processing is coupled with reinforcement learning to create AI tools like ChatGPT, Jasper, CopyAI, and many other providers, all of which can help make marketers infinitely more efficient and creative.

Events Create Authentic, Evergreen Content

Help 🤗 AND Hype 🙄

Ok, so not everything with AI is so black and white. Welcome to the “gray area”.

Right now, the question at the top of every marketer’s mind is, “Does AI cheapen content generation?”

The answer is yes… and no.

While we’re big fans of using AI for content generation (find out why), another content superpower is even more authentic, impactful, and easy to achieve.

Can you guess what we’re hinting at? Yup, it’s events. Events not only connect us but also empower us. They are the fuel our content fire needs to keep burning for years to come!

Events can be a beneficial source of content. Take a panel discussion, for example. We recently hosted a client panel webinar that lasted about 1 hour. But the insights offered were so dense that one event essentially created an entire content campaign in Q2!

🧶 DIY Corner

Don’t believe that you can create multiple pieces of content from one webinar? Give it a try yourself! Go back to a recording from earlier this year and think about how many content pieces you could generate from the topics discussed. We bet you’ll be surprised!

From a single webinar earlier this year, the Splash team created:

•

5 ‘one pager’ pieces of content

•

An email drip campaign

•

At least two video shorts

•

Several LinkedIn posts

•

A second webinar (!)

•

And a partridge in a pear tree 🦚🌳

Balancing AI and Events, Together

Help 🤗 AND Hype 🙄

Ok, so not everything with AI is so black and white. Welcome to the “gray area”.

We all know events are great (none of us would be here if we didn’t believe that), but they can also be resource-draining and difficult to scale, right?

Not with the right technology and resources in place!

While event tech helps you simplify the complexity of events, the “real AI” (we’re referring to Artificial Intelligence here) can help you scale and grow your programs, reducing the impact on your team. Where technology “falls short,” though, is in fostering the connections that are so essential to us as people.

Splash is a huge advocate (and potential influencer) in leveraging AI for efficiency. But, our game is - and always will be - events, and we’d be remiss to not point out the obvious: as impressive as AI is, there is no shortcut for human connection.

So while AI won’t plan events for you, it will free up your time to make even more Authentic, Interconnected events!

Splash Hack

An example of this is a recent Masterclass we hosted. The audience personas, post-event materials, and even table seating were all assisted by our new employee… AI. This freed up time for our events team to plan an additional client webinar AND a local seminar in a customer-dense region.

AI Complements, Not Replaces, Human Interaction

Authentic. Interconnected. Real. Events are both the perfect antidote to AI and the ideal companion. Instead of thinking of them like oil & water, perhaps it’s more akin to oil & vinegar. Completely different, but together, amazing.

How will you use Events to compliment the AI revolution? We can’t wait to help you find out.

Answer

This term is best used when describing AI as having an impact on the future of marketing and job security.

Hint

In nearly every industry, jobs have evolved alongside technology and society.

Although we aren't engineers, we know the way cars were manufactured back in the 1920s is not the same way it's done now in the 2020s— and the evolution of both the vehicles themselves as well as manufacturing necessitates that evolution.

Question

What is Hype? 🙄

Ding, ding, ding! Believe it or not, much of the MarTech we use today didn't exist in the early 2000s. Marketing and advertising via mail, outdoor advertising, or television and radio. The evolution of the internet -  and subsequently social media and digital marketing - haven't replaced other forms of marketing, but they have tremendously expanded the field.

AI will no doubt continue to transform marketing, but we can't see it replacing the necessity of humans to apply these transformations to their current roles. While AI will definitely change - and even improve - how some jobs are performed, despite its rapid adoption and continued advancement, AI taking your job in the next ten years is about as likely as flying cars. 🛸

So, what's next?

This concludes our pilot episode of Help or Hype.

To help marketers further navigate the largely uncharted waters of AI, we’ll continue sharing more bite-sized content to help you become more familiar and comfortable with using AI in the most beneficial ways.

Stay tuned for helpful AI prompts, ways to leverage AI to simplify event processes, and a deeper look into how personalized human connections are on their way to becoming even more critical as the AI world continues growing exponentially.
