How to Use Slack

First time Slack user? Here’s how to use the tool and get the most out of it:

Getting Started:

•

Once you receive your invite key, click in and create your profile. You’ll want to download the Slack desktop app and/or the iOS or Android mobile app. This will help you stay signed in and stay on top of community discussions.

•

You’ll be automatically added to the most relevant channels upon sign-up. However, you’re encouraged to hit the + sign next to “Channels” and join any others that you can add or get value from.

•

Once you’re in, make sure you complete your profile information so people know who you are. Most importantly, you’ll need to change your display name to your first and last name. Then, be sure to add a profile picture and fill out the rest of the relevant fields.

•

Once your profile is complete, head over to the #introductions channel and tell the community that you’re here! It can’t hurt to include a little bit about yourself and a link to your LinkedIn profile either.

•

Want to start a 1:1 conversation with someone? Hit the + button next to “Direct Messages” on the left pane and search a name or email address.

•

For more details on general Slack usage, visit their Help Center.

What is the Splash Community Talking About?

Glad you asked! Everyone in the Splash Community Slack is either an event professional or some type of marketing professional, so you’re in good company. All discussions in this workspace should be relevant to event marketing and how to be more successful using Splash.

Common Discussions:

•

Strategies to roll out Splash to the rest of your team and build adoption.

•

Splash best practices, tips for setting up integrations, tricks for creating awesome virtual events, etc.

•

Raising your hand to host a discussion at an upcoming Splash User Group (SPLUG) meet-up.

•

Role-specific advice. (i.e. recruiting teams using Splash, marketing ops best practices, internal event how-tos, etc.)

•

Event vendor recommendations (i.e. wine tasting hosts, virtual chefs, swag providers, etc.)

•

Feedback and ideas for new Splash content. We want to produce stuff you actually want to read or tune into, so give our team ideas!

•

Examples of events and event pages you’re hosting...don’t be afraid to to brag about your work!

•

Relevant industry content that other event and marketing pros will find value in.

Can I Get Product Support Here?

Yep. When you’re in the Splash Community Slack, you’re surrounded by hundreds of other Splash users, many of which are veteran power users. We also have a handful of delivery partners in here that are a treasure trove of pinpointed knowledge.

You also have access to the Splash Support team in four support channels that you’ll be automatically added to upon joining. A member of the support team monitors those channels on regular business days from 10am-6pm ET.

If you have an issue that needs attention immediately, you should submit a case here for a faster resolution.

As a best practice, we always recommend consulting the Splash Help Center before reaching out directly to support. Chances are, the answer you’re looking for is in there.
