Less is More

The internet is overflowing with content. Personally, every time I open my phone or computer, there is new information, pictures, and videos. And since I have a long list of content to engage with and choose from, the more simple your digital content is the better.

The days of sugar-coating your messaging are over. Keep it simple, clear, and understandable. It will get a better and more effective reach to your audience.

Meta. Who is She?

The metaverse (I know, it sounds like it came straight out of Marvel) is the term for virtual and augmented experiences, and it is a trend we see everywhere. From virtual reality to 3D holographic avatars and videos, the metaverse is the newest sandbox digital marketers are playing in.

Over the next couple of years, many brands will dabble in the metaverse and experiment with marketing programs that allow people to work, play, and socialize in a virtual space.

Influencers Really Have an Influence

Yes. My boyfriend makes fun of me when I say, “An influencer I follow promoted this product, and I am using it.” But if that’s not a testament to influencers doing their job, what is?

Influencers continue to dominate the marketing space, not only in B2C marketing but B2B as well - influencer marketing can be a secret weapon. People tend to trust other people over businesses first, and if you can find a customer advocate, it is in your best digital marketing interest to tap into them.

Digital campaigns that use influencers inherently provide context and relevance since there is a champion of the product/service endorsing it. And that catapults your brand even further, making it a topic that is #trending on social media.

Experience is Everything

As most event marketers know, experiences are the new social currency. Marketers are focusing on how they can stand out from the rest by creating one-of-a-kind programs at every stage of their interactions with potential consumers, and it is working.

It's All About the Algorithm

Every piece of digital marketing - social media newsfeed, display ads, social ads, SEO, and most emails - is becoming more strategic and algorithmic. To stay relevant to trends today, marketers must provide personal user experiences for consumers.

Think specifically about the audience you are trying to reach and what would resonate most with them, and you will surely drive business growth and attention.

Some of these trends may be easier for your business to hop onto than others, and some you can use just as a general direction to keep an eye out for the future, but the sooner you take action–the better. Digital marketing is the fastest-changing and growing faucet for marketing, and it's up to you and your business to take advantage of it.
