The Salesforce team did a great job making sure their brand values were apparent at Dreamforce. There were ample parent’s rooms and all-gender restrooms marked on their maps, a meditation hall, and a relaxation room. In the opening keynote, Marc Benioff stated, “We’re a net zero company because the planet is also a stakeholder.” Practicing what they preach, Dreamforce offered complimentary refillable water bottles, sponsored water-filling stations (high-five Deloitte!), composting and recycling with staff nearby to help sort, and many more environmentally friendly components. At Splash, we're evaluating eco-friendly swag items, so we made a purposeful decision not to bring any to Dreamforce this year. But we were inspired by so many of the items we saw!
In the five years I planned conferences, I hadn’t actually attended one since Dreamforce 2015, so I had quite a few experience highlights:
1. Dogs! I love all dogs and was very excited to see them at Dreamforce. Acumen Solutions partnered with Paws for Purple Hearts to bring PTSD therapy dogs in training to get the dogs comfortable with people. What a smart idea and also a gift to attendees. Seeing Larson’s smiling face instantly lured me over to pet him and capture the moment to share with the team in our #Splanimals Slack channel. It’s not a quality lead for them necessarily, but we got to share that joy together, and I’ll think fondly of their brand in the future.
2. At the Gratitude Tree inside the Campground, there were cards displayed as ornaments where you could finish the statement, “I feel included when…” As a new member of a team at Splash, it was a great reminder to count my blessings and get in touch with myself. For such a busy space, it was a quiet moment of introspection while chatting with others about their experience.
3. At Splash’s yacht reception, we welcomed 100 of our closest friends on the California Spirit, a luxury yacht owned by the San Francisco Giants. With a seven-foot Splash flag flying high, we cruised the bay enjoying drinks, snacks, and the glowing views of Alcatraz, the Golden Gate Bridge, the San Francisco skyline, and Oracle Park. We finished the cruise in McCovey Cove outside of Oracle Park, where we celebrated Splash Hits from our customers. This intimate event provided an escape from the hustle of the city, and attendees could take a deep breath to recharge and have meaningful conversations — what we’re all about at Splash.
